DAY 1

Arrival at Sucre Airport and departure for the city of Uyuni.
The journey will take all day, through endless Andean plains (with an altitude reaching and exceeding 4000 meters) and the characteristic city of Potosí (the highest city in the world, 3980 m above sea level) where we will stop for Lunch, and other small Andean communities on the way; furthermore you could also appreciate boundless fields full of llamas and alpacas in the wild.
When arrived in Uyuni and arranged your baggage in the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2

Departure from the town of Uyuni to reach the Salar de Uyuni (a huge salt desert, 3653 m above sea level, which, with its 10,600 km2 of extension and a thickness ranging from 2 to 10 meters, is the largest expanse of salt in the world; there are large quantities of boron, potassium, magnesium, borax, and the largest reserve of lithium) through the graveyard of trains (a space where various steam trains, dating back to the early 900’, are now out-of-use) and Colchani (a small village where people collect and refine salt and where you could visit a museum entirely made of salt and buy souvenirs and typical products).
When arrived in the Salar, we will take various stops to know and see the unique peculiarities of this place with your own eyes; we’ll understand how salt is extracted, what the so-called “salt eyes” are, why characteristic hexagonal shapes are formed…
After that, we will stop in the famous salt hotel Playa Blanca (where we will dine) and on Incahuasi Island or Pescado Island where we will see millenarian cacti and breathtaking views of the Salar.
Then we will arrive at the resort of Puerto Chuvica where we will eat and drink in a hotel made of salt, even the bed!!!

DAY 3

Breakfast and departure early in the morning to reach the village of San Juan de Rosario, where we will visit a pre-Incan necropolis (Kausay Wasi) and curious fossil corals.
Then we’ll reach the salar of Chiguana, the Ollague Volcano (part of the famous Ring of Fire) as far as fantastic lagoons (Turquiri, Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarkota, Honda) where there are 3 different species of flamingos (the Andean flamingo, the Chilean flamingo and the James’s flamingo) and on the way we could appreciate vicuña families in the wild.
After having your packed lunch, we’ll reach the Siloli desert where we could appreciate the “Arbol de Piedra” (stone tree), a curious volcanic stone formation shaped by the strong wind and salt; then we will enter the national reserve “Eduardo Avaroa” where there is the famous Laguna Colorada, a vast pink lagoon; its color intensifies in relation to sunlight and due to the presence of microorganisms (pink shrimps) in the water. These microorganisms are the favorite food of thousands of flamingos living in this wonderful lagoon.
We will arrive at the resort of Huayllajara for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4

Departure before dawn to reach geysers of the area called “Sol de Manana”, a 1-km2 area characterized by intense volcanic and fumaric activity, with 15-m steam jets; then we’ll reach thermal waters of Polques, where you could have an invigorating bath in the open-air swimming pools (the water temperature is 28-30 °) and where you will have breakfast.
Then we will visit the Challviri lagoon, the desert Dalí (characterized by rocky shapes and landscapes that recall its surrealist paintings), the Blanca lagoon and the spectacular Green Lagoon, which is at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano (which is 5960 m high and has been used as a “workout” site for robot probes sent to Mars by Nasa, for its extreme conditions.
